Important Note: Installing the Brooktrout boards on a Windows 2003 server automatically detects the new hardware and installs the drivers. These drivers are not the correct drivers for fax@vantage. Follow the Uninstalling Brooktrout drivers version 4.3.2.82 From a 2003 fax@vantage Server document before proceeding. fax@vantage V4.3 or higher must be installed and set up, along with the fax@vantage printer.

  1. Close the fax@vantage server.
  2. Click Start,Run, then type CMD to open a DOS prompt.
  3. This should put you at your home directory C:Documents and Settingslogin Name>. If fax@vantage software is loaded on the local drive (C:), type cdProgra~1Applie~1@vantagemiscbfax_ntinstall and press [Enter].

If the fax@vantage software is loaded on another drive, type the driver letter followed by a colon, e.g., R:, and press[Enter]. Type cdProgra~1Applie~1@vantagemiscbfax_ntinstall.

Brooktrout
  1. At the X:Progra~1Applie~1@vantagemiscbfax_ntinstall> prompt (where X: is the drive designator selected in step 3), type install.exe. The program installs and sets up the various parameters of the Brooktrout driver. The following questions are asked.
  1. Installing Brooktrout fax/Voice Device Driver Version 4.3.0 Brooktrout driver has been installed (or partially installed). Do you want to overwrite the existing installation? Overwrite? (y or n, default y).
    ClickEnter to accept the default. This question displays only if the driver has been installed previously.

  2. How many channels do you want to support?
    Enter the number of channels the board has. If using more that one board, enter the total number of channels on all the boards. (E.g., for two Trufax 200 boards, enter four channels; for three Trufax 200 boards, enter six channels; for one TR114 uP4c, enter four channels; for two TR114 uP4c, enter eight channels.)

  3. What interrupt line will the ISA fax/voice boards use, -1 if no ISA Boards (default 5)?
    Press[Enter] to accept the default.

  4. What DMA channel will the ISA fax/voice boards use, -1 if no ISA Boards or no DMA channel (default 1)?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  5. Kernel Buffer Size?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  6. Kernel Interrupt Queue Size?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  7. Enable Debug Code?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  8. Number of dump history entries?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  9. Enable debug FIFO logging?
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  10. Start the driver automatically at boot time? (y or n, default y)
    Press [Enter] to accept the default.

  11. Enter CMD line args for faxinit. Be sure to use full pathnames for any files not residing in C:windowsbfax (no default setting):
    Type config.txtand press [Enter].

The following message displays.

The C:windowsbfax directory has been created. The services named ‘bfax’ and ‘faxinit’ have been added to the registry. The driver will be started at boot time, and the results of faxinit will be in the C:windowsbfaxfaxinit.log. To start the driver now, run ‘net start bfax’. Then ‘faxinit’ (with path).

Drivers

If the message does not display, check to make sure the board is installed according to manufacturer directions. If this is a 2003 machine, verify that you have completed the step in the Uninstalling Brooktrout Drivers V4.3.2.82 From a 2003 fax@vantage Server document. Note the message so that it can be given to Support.

The

  • Type cdwindowsbfax (it may be cdwinntbfax) and press [Enter].
  • Note: If fax@vantage was loaded on another drive, type C: and press [Enter] before step 5.

    1. At the c:windowsbfax prompt type,copy con config.txt and press [Enter].
    2. For two Trufax Brooktrout cards, type ADDRS 260 2 and press [Enter]. Then type ADDRS 264 2 and press Enter. Then type ADDRS 268 2 and press Enter.
    3. For one TR114 Brooktrout card, type ADDRS 260 4 and press [Enter]. Then type ADDRS 264 4 and press Enter.
      1. Press [F6]. One file copies.

      2. At the c:windowsbfaxprompt, type net start bfax and press [Enter]:

      Note: The Brooktrout card that you have installed displays. If you receive an error, make note of it for Support.

      1. Type Exit at the C:WINDOWSBFAX> prompt.

      2. Open fax@vantage server.

      3. Click Set-Up.

      4. Click PortSetup.

      5. Select the Brooktrout Settings tab.

      6. Select the checkbox next to each channel that you wish to use.

      7. Highlight the channel if you want to use it to receive only and click the Use Channel for Receiving Only checkbox. A 'Yes' displays in the Receive Only column.

        Note:
        If you are using DID lines, these lines are to be used for receiving only.

      Setting up DID Lines (TR114 Board) to Route to an Email User

      1. At the fax@vantage Central Server, click Options, Fax Routing.

      1. Click on the DID Routing tab.

      1. ClickAdd DID #.

      1. Enter the DID digits for which you wish to add a routed user. Click OK.

      1. Highlight the DID Number, then choose an email recipient Manually or from the Address Book. Or you can choose to route to a printer.

      1. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until all of the DID numbers are set up.
