Police said they received reports that a woman driving the vehicle was possibly intoxicated, so Officer John Amole went to go look for that vehicle. They said the driver, Kimberly Powers, 54, of New Richmond, eventually crashed into the police cruiser.

Powers was reportedly driving her 1998 Toyota Corolla eastbound on State Route 132 when she traveled left of center and hit Amole's police cruiser.

Powers was taken to Anderson Mercy Hospital and was later taken by Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Officer Amole was taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to OSHP, impairment was a factor in the crash and Powers was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
