What is an Industrial Computer?

The manufacturing and industrial sectors are extremely diverse. It covers food processing, metal fabrication and everything in between. The one thing every sector has in common is that the environments they operate in are harsh, and wreak havoc on regular computers. Dust and other particles damage internal components. Extreme heat and cold, with varying humidity, can kill a computer quickly. Even something as simple as finding a place to install a tower can be difficult and create a safety hazard.

That is why companies in the industrial sector rely on industrial grade computers. But what exactly sets an industrial grade computer apart from a standard commercial grade computer?

Military Grade Components - Cybernet uses military-grade components in our industrial computers. These components are specifically engineered to be shock and vibration proof, withstand temperature and humidity variants, and have a much higher MTBF (mean time between failure) than standard commercial-grade components.

Fanless Cooling Technology - One of the most common points of failure for any computer is the cooling fan. This is especially true in industrial settings. Manufacturing floors are filled with particulates in the air that get sucked up by fans and cause hardware failure. Fanless industrial PCs use a combination of heat sinks, low power consumption components, and fewer moving parts to reduce heat, allowing for fanless cooling.

Industrial PCs from Cybernet: These rugged computers are engineered with military grade components to withstand the any environment or manufacturing floor. Shock & vibration proof, IP65 rated, built tough.

Cybernet Manufacturing, Inc. Manufacture all-in-one PCs. The Company offers medical grade computers, keyboard PCs, medical tablets, and windows tablets. Cybernet Manufacturing, the world's leader in medical grade computing technology, has just announced their first medical box PC, the CyberMed R6. Engineered to meet the same exacting medical grade standards that their medical panel PCs meet, the CyberMed R6 combines those medical certifications with the tough construction of their mini rugged industrial computers.

Multiple Mounting Options - Not only is space typically at a premium on most production floors but having towers on the ground and extra cords creates a safety hazard. All of Cybernet's industrial PCs can be VESA mounted using 75/100 mm standards. Some of our PCs are also din rail and rack mount capable, allowing you to place the computer where you need it without it getting in the way of workflow.

Why Use Medical Grade Monitors?

The monitor is often the most overlooked part of any computer setup, but the importance of clear visuals, durable construction, and medical certifications can't be overlooked.

For one, the IP65 rating of Cybernet's medical monitors far outstrips anything found in the consumer field. IP65 stands for 'ingress protection,' with the '6' standing for particle intrusion protection and the '5' standing for protection from liquids. A '6' for particles means that these medical monitors are completely sealed from dirt and dust. Not only does this help the monitor last longer because it removes the kind of build-up that slows components down, it also cuts off an easy avenue for bacterial intrusion. Bacteria often ride dust, dirt, and skin cells into crooks and cracks, which simply isn't possible with a sealed medical monitor.

The '5' for liquid protection means that medical monitors can take direct jets of water to the front bezel without seeping in or causing damage. This not only prevents random fluid splashes from shorting out the monitor, but more importantly allows for more thorough disinfecting and deep-cleaning. An IP65, sealed medical grade monitor can be scoured with the usual hospital cleaner and wiped down without fear.

Finally, the IEC and UL 60601 certifications mean the medical monitors are safe for patient use, and can thus be used in operating rooms, nursing homes, doctor's offices, and anywhere where medical technology must pass rigorous safety standards.
